Our Art Teaching Philosophy

At Artgrain, we believe that the creative process begins with learning to see. Our teaching encourages students to closely observe the world around them, developing both technical skills as they draw and paint, and a deeper appreciation for the people, places, and experiences that inspire their work. Through hands-on demonstrations and guided exploration across a wide range of artistic mediums, students build confidence in techniques while discovering their own creative voice.
Small class sizes allow our teachers to provide personalised guidance, nurturing each student’s individual strengths and interests. Alongside a structured core syllabus, students regularly embark on special projects that introduce diverse styles, concepts, and creative approaches, broadening their horizons and encouraging experimentation, curiosity, and an artist’s perspective on the world.
Students’ Yearly Progressions

To nurture students to become confident, observant and independent artists through rigorous academic art education. By combining strong technical foundations with critical thinking and creative inquiry, we prepare students to develop a lifelong appreciation for the visual arts.
At Artgrain offers a progressive curriculum designed to grow alongside every student. From building strong foundations in our Children’s Art Programmes to specialised training in Sketching, Clay and Digital Art, students develop both technical confidence and creative thinking. Those pursuing academic art can continue into our Portfolio Preparatory Programme for DSA, AEP and SOTA admissions, followed by Secondary Art programmes aligned with N-Level, O-Level, A-Level and IB Visual Arts. The journey continues into adulthood, providing lifelong opportunities to learn, create and grow as an artist.
Our Teachers
Our teachers are graduates from respected local and internations art schools such as NAFA, LASALLE, SMU and Rhode Island. Each teacher is well-trained in handling and teaching children from age 3 onwards. Parents can feel assured that their child is learning under capable and caring guidance.
Our Programme Flow
Exposure to art plays a vital role in a young child’s development. Our programmes provide opportunities for children to understand the world and grow their imagination. Every session is designed to spark curiosity and confidence.
We’ve written more about the benefits of art for children in our blog posts.
