Developmental Art (Ages 10 - 12)

Artgrain’s Developmental Program is the progression after our Foundational Course. With prior art experiences and knowledge of their skills, our Foundational Art students advance to the Developmental Art Programme. Moving beyond painting, this program offers students with more advanced training in a variety of mediums, with a focus on achieving a highly resolved work.

Art Class for Advanced Primary Schoolers

In this lesson 6.5 on Daniel Mackie, our student here learn to assimilate the characteristics use of animal silhouette frame in Daniel Mackie’s artworks to create her own ‘Animal and Representations’ artwork while understanding positive and negative space in composition design. Great job in taking the essence of Daniel Mackie’s style, demonstrating a solid understanding of the technique used!

Learning Outcomes

Advanced techniques and implementation of skills learnt in Foundational Art

Equip students with more comprehensive training in a variety of mediums, with a focus on achieving a realistic style. Honing their understanding of line, colour, tone and composition to a more rigorous level.

Advanced Understanding of Artists Styles, Movements, Art Terms and Concepts

Students are introduced to more artist references, while studying the works of these artists, they learn to pick up techniques used from the artist and applied it to create an original work of their own.

Development of Visual Literacy

Students will be taught to successfully interpret and use images, understanding and describe features of a picture that create visual meaning and how the image catches our attention.

Program Fee

A4 Journal will be used to record key concepts and ideas from our teachers and reinforcing learning. It also supports idea development and reflection, allowing students to track creative processes. Material and compositional experimentation for the understanding and application of techniques and ideas.
