Digital Art

Art class for Primary and Secondary Schoolers

For this project, Rachel Lim 12yo learnt to render fur texture of a pair of cute bear cubs. Using a variety of brushes. from rough to fine, she started by blocking in the tones and textures generally, before building up and layering in details to depict the fine hairs. She also learnt to observe the direction and length of the fur, and painted them accordingly for a more realistic finish. For the background, she simplified and blurred the elements to keep the focus on the animals.

Learning Outcomes

Derived from traditional art forms but with components of new technology

Using apps like Procreate and Sketchbook, students start with learning the basics and familiarising digital tools. Honing their drawing skills, tones and details to achieve realism. In the later stage, they will be taught digital art forms such as collaging, gifs, etc.

Learn the Fundamentals and Essential Digital Tools

In Potted Plants, our student Sophie learned to create different types of leaf shapes and patterns with basic digital art tools - such as layering, brushes, colour fills, blending and smudging to create a simple realistic digital artwork.

Create Your Style

Students will learn to create from imagination with various styles. The advantages of digital tools are its flexibility and freedom to play around. In Breakfast Table, our student Kendra departed from realism to explore flat and bold colours for a Pop Art Style.
