Portfolio Preparatory Course (Ages 10 - 12)
Artgrain’s Portfolio Preparatory Course (PPC) prepares students for application to Visual Art DSA, Art Elective Programs in schools and other institutions locally and abroad. Through individual mentorship from our teachers, students hone their techniques and create a unique portfolio of artworks in the mediums of drawing, painting, design and 3D sculpting that demonstrates their skills, interests and potential.

Art Class for Primary Schoolers Interested in DSA/SOTA
Here is Megan Tan,12yo submission for the 2024 SOTA P6 Competition, earning the top 10 spot. The learning experience in Primary 6 can be very stressful, as PSLE is slowly approaching. She feels that instead of focusing on the negatives, we can focus on the positives and shows it in her artwork through the lily pads to represent the flourishing education in school where we overcome obstacles with the support of our friends who are going through the same thing.
Learning Outcomes
Technical Proficiency
With a strong focus on observational skills, Portfolio students will develop their skills in a wide range of techniques and mediums ranging from traditional drawing and painting mediums to 3d clay and digital illustration to ensure their portfolio works are of high standard, and that they are prepared for upcoming challenges like on-the-spot drawing entrance tests.
Creative Expression
Each child has his/her own unique perspective and we want their art to communicate that. Portfolio students will be guided on how to develop, explore and realise their ideas and thoughts into artworks that communicate their originality and creativity.
Expanded Artist Knowledge
To instil our students with visual curiosity beyond Artgrain, students are exposed to artwork references from varied art movements to serve as inspiration for a wider range of creative possibilities. We strive to train our students to be able to reflect on and speak about their own artwork thoughtfully and articulately, with the mindset of a true artist.
