Teacher Josephine

Ms Josephine Chan is thankful that in 2012 she was given opportunities from curators to exhibit her art works in Huddersfield as well as in London, where her ideas could be shared to many. She is constantly on the ball to explore different art mediums to express her ideas. The art environment is where her creativity could be fully expressed. Vice versa it is also this environment that never fails to broaden her imagination, ideas, and knowledge.

Teacher CJ

Ms Tan Cheng Ju (CJ) graduated with a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Arts from Lasalle College of the Arts in 2014. She is mostly inspired by textile installation works. Her art practice touches on social issues based on her past and present experience. She is very fond of using found objects as her main material to recreate wearable art piece that reflects on locality issues as she find it meaningful that those found objects are created for a purpose. Currently, in her art practice she is still rather experimental and she enjoys a bit of spontaneity and fun in her works.

Teacher Goh

Ms Goh Hong graduated from the National University of Singapore, School of Design and Environment, with a Bachelors of Arts (Industrial Design) with Honours. She believes art is important in life, enabling us to look through different perspectives, training our sensitivity and ability to think outside the box. She finds children more imaginative than most adults, and hope to encourage their self-discovery and cultivate joy through the learning of art. Presently in her art practice, she specializes in drawing, creating highly-realistic works which explore and capture specific characteristics of or a story behind a subject, be it a person, animal, or an object. She also enjoys photography, as it allows her to capture precious moments in time, as well as digital art.

Teacher Vicky

Ms Vicky’s works are majority narratives that express personal stories, experiences and fictions. She is interested in how humans react to their own surroundings especially those who live in Singapore and how places impacted them. She also takes interest in stories that people share with her as well. Her living environment – urban spaces –  are her constant source of ideations and inspirations.

Teacher Jia Hui

As a practitioner and an enthusiast of art, I believe that the act of creation will always be rewarding and educational, it encourages us to be inventive, imaginative and creative. Let’s not forget that art is all around us! Jia Hui is a Fine Arts Degree Graduate from LASALLE College of The Arts. She enjoys painting, drawing and occasionally printmaking in her free time.

Ms Ma Win Sandi Kyaw graduated from the Nottingham Trent University with a Bachelors of Arts (Fashion Design) with Honours. She enjoys working with fabric manipulation and textiles. She also likes experimenting with different mediums as well. According to Sandi, engaging with the arts is crucial for us since it is a form of communicating such as ideas and personal thoughts. Through years of teaching, she loves giving her students of all ages the chance to develop their creativity and mentoring them on their artistic path. She believes in the importance of art education in a child’s development and how it impacts wellbeing. She believes in lifelong learning and encourages active learning to students.

She is a multi-disciplinary artist where she works across various media, creating film and sculptural works that confront questions of space, existence, time, and affection. Through her art making process, she believes art serve as a form of self-reflection, and through reflection it allows her to identify and appreciate positive experiences.

Graduated from University of Malaysia Sarawak with a Bachelor of Applied Arts with Honours (Design Technology). I enjoy working with fabrics and experimenting with different mediums. I believe that arts create a beautiful opportunity for us to express and share our ideas and better connect with the world around us. My teaching philosophy is encourage children to discover and develop their creativity. Teaching students in accordance with their aptitude and interest – oriented so that every child can gain from guidance and grow in various fields.

She believes that art education is a space where people can begin to take ownership of their creativity and learn to think freely and change the world around them. Her own drawings and paintings deal with themes of personal identity, the power of storytelling, and the borders between individual and universal experience.

Ms Deborah Loh Chi En graduated with a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Arts from LASALLE Collage of the Arts in 2014. She uses her art practice as a way of processing different thoughts and ideas while making. Her current practice focuses on the limited influence of art and the necessity of it, if at all. She thinks kids make better art than most people and might be stealing your kids ideas for her own work.

Teacher Peng Ting

Ms Peng Ting graduated with a BA(Hons) Degree in Fine Arts from Lasalle College of the Arts in 2020. She enjoys creating imaginative storytelling illustrations digitally and/or with watercolour. She believes there is a power in imagination because it is a form of self-expressing and communicating with one’s subconscious mind. Learning is not about being the most talented one, it is about having the courage to continue to challenge despite any failure.

Ms Yunita Rebekah graduated in 2019 from University of Central Lancanshire, United Kingdom, in Bachelor (Hons) of Fine Art Practice, and has received a Diploma in Fine Art from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore. She has shown in Langgeng Art Space, Jogjakarta, Your Mother Gallery, Singapore, National Gallery Singapore, Ngee Ann Kongsi Gallery, and other establishments. She believes that art making teaches important and valuable skills for the everyday life of the developing child or adult.

Teacher Kimberly

Ms Kimberly Teo was from LASALLE College of the Arts and previously from the art gallery industry in Singapore. As practicing artist, she has exhibited alongside prominent local artists and continues to make art in her free time. Kimberly enjoys working on projects for a good cause. Her latest endeavour is an NFT digital-art project with a charity slant where the funds raised will help to keep the crypto space safe. Besides this, Kimberly also writes about art.

Teacher Stephanie

Teacher Stephanie graduated with a BA(Hons) Degree in Fine Arts from Lasalle College of the Arts in 2022. Her practice revolves around craft, specifically focusing on fiber related arts like knitting, crochet and embroidery. Her research attempts to unpack preconceived notions of value, gender and labour; through this, she aims to bring up questions on the resistance of craft work in the contemporary world and the shifting narratives of women’s work.

Teacher Iqbal

Teacher Iqbal graduated from the National University of Singapore, School of Design and Environment with a Bachelors of Arts (Architecture) with Honours. He has a passion for heritage and conservation, focusing on community engagement as well as timber construction. Through his work, he hopes to encourage recognising our built environment within the context of change, development and different perspectives, enriching our understanding of the community of which we are part. His work on kampong houses studies traditional construction techniques and practices, exploring the sustainability of timber as a material in modern construction as well as the relevance of the architectural typology in a modern landscape.

Teacher Jasmine graduated from Lasalle College of the Arts, majoring in Design Communications. Prior to art teaching, she has experience working as a graphic designer specialising in Branding, Typography and Editorials. Recently, she has taken interest in the approach of art making, exploring different mediums and media. Her works revolve around botany art, childhood nostalgia, as well as surrealistic narratives. She believes art is a language used to express feelings and understanding of the world and wishes to help kids express themselves thru the form of Art.

Teacher Su Min believes that art education builds character, as the process of creation from start to end is never straight forward, and encourages the spirit of resilience and self-improvement. As a graduate of Nanyang Technological University with a BFA in Media Art (Animation), she has a passion for storytelling and narrative creation, having been inspired by games and various animated films. She enjoys various forms of art such as drawing, painting, digital and 3D. When words fail us, she believes that we can use our art to communicate our thoughts and feelings. Hence, she would like to be that bridge to help her students share their voices with others through art.
