Digital Art (Age 8 to 16)

At Artgrain, our Digital Art programme is a specialised course for students who are interested the digital realm. Digital Art for children no longer has a steep learning curve, as they are regularly exposed to technological devices like smartphones, tablets and laptops in their everyday life, and thus can pick up new interfaces quickly. It can be seen applied in areas like illustration, animation, graphic design and advertisements. Instead of using a pencil or paint brush, students learn about art and create works through soft- wares like Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, Procreate or Adobe Photoshop, with a laptop and pen tablet, or a tablet and stylus pen. In our Digital Art course in Singapore, students start with learning the basics in art, the elements and principles, while familiarising themselves with the software and basic digital tools. They progress to learning about digital painting, honing their observational skills of colours, tones and details to achieve realism. After building a strong foundation in art and a good mastery of the common digital tools and techniques, they are taught more art techniques such as collaging and design, advanced digital painting techniques and a variety of art styles.

Online Digital Art classes

Our Digital Art programme is also available as online art lessons for kids. Through screen-sharing, students are able to view the live demonstration and follow along step-by-step, and teachers are also able to view the students’ works and guide them closely, allowing children to pick up the digital medium well.

Artgrain also offers digital art through online art workshops during the holidays, which are often of a wide range of subject matters and styles. These workshops are especially beneficial to children who are curious about the digital medium but have no or little experience, as it gives them a chance to try it out for a short 3-day workshop.

Benefits of Digital Art class

As we progress towards a digital future, learning digital art helps children to understand and keep up with the evolving technologies in the world, while building their fundamental art skills. Knowledge and proficiency in digital art can give students a head start if they wish to pursue art in the future, especially since digital working processes are increasingly applied in almost every area of art and design.
